What is an IMEI number?

The most important number in cell phone (mobile phone) is IMEI number is GSM handsets.
International Mobile Equipment Identity Number 
  • Number of GSM mobile set.
  • Also known as Serial Number.
  • It contains 15 digit number
  • Can be changed later (but illegal act)
  • To know the IMEI no. of your handset 
    •  Type *#06# (with/without sim)
    written inside the battert case of the housing or carrier board.
    It has the direct link to the network, if IMEI damaged the mobile displays "SIM not valid" or "contact service provider" 
    the displayed number and the written number should be the same, if different, 
  • IMEI number has been changed with software
  • Housing or carrier board has been changed
  • Motherboard has been changed
